The Bay East Association of Realtors, of which I am a member, produces a half-hour TV show called The Real Estate Show. The program features segments on home ownership, buying and selling, remodeling and much more. The first episode aired in September 2006 on Comcast Cable Channel 30 in the Tri-Valley area. Currently, the Real Estate Show can be seen every weekend on Comcast Cable channel 27 in Newark, channel 28 in Alameda, San Leandro, Hayward, Union City and part of Castro Valley, and on channel 29 in Fremont. The show airs at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Below is a link to Episode #13, which depicts a buyer going through the home-buying process. This program is a little different from the House Hunters of HGTV in that it does not focus on the home search; instead it starts with the signing of the purchase agreement, to the loan application, the home inspections, and finally the escrow.
The show educates the viewer on the roles of the many parties involved in a home purchase transaction. New buyers sometimes mistakenly think that the only persons involved in the transaction, aside from the sellers, are the agents, but the truth is, there is a big team of professionals that are called upon to make a real estate transaction successful.
