Are there buyers out there?

Yes, there are! Last Saturday (Feb 9), I met with four sets of buyers… from 9:30 in the morning to 6:30 in the evening. I started with a couple who are looking for a 3 bed/2 bath house in the Tri-City (Fremont/Newark/Union City) area. At 11:30, I met with another couple whose geographical focus was relatively narrower - Irvington and South Newark neighborhoods. Then at 1:30pm, I visited some condos with a bachelor, the epitome of the young professional very well suited to the urban living lifestyle that downtown Oakland offers. And finally, at a little past 5pm, I had my last appointment, with another bachelor who prefers the laid-back serenity of a Montclair or Moraga dwelling.

My gut feel is that as the drabness of winter gives way to the cheerfulness of spring, buyers are starting to awaken from their hibernation and look at the real estate landscape. And the high inventory and low prices are goading them into action.

One of my buyers actually decided to make an offer; unfortunately, the house went pending before we could. A number of the listings we looked at also went pending in the last few days. Yes, there are buyers out there, and yes, houses are selling.
